We look forward to hosting our invited guests at the CSAP American Politics Conference being sponsored by the Yale Center for the Study of American Politics at ISPS on Thursday and Friday, May 29-30, 2025. We hope you find the following information helpful in planning your trip to New Haven.
Authors presenting papers and graduate students presenting poster projects will receive funding assistance for travel to the conference. Other attendees are responsible for covering the cost of travel to and from the conference, but CSAP will be covering the cost of lodging and meals during the conference.
If you have questions about travel and/or lodging for this conference, please contact Pamela Greene by email or by phone at 203-432-3052.

Air Travel
New Haven is serviced by the Tweed/New Haven Airport which is a convenient 15-minute taxi ride to the Yale campus and provides service on Avelo Airlines to 25 destinations. Other airports within driving distance of New Haven are Hartford/Bradley International Airport (approximately 1-hour driving time to Yale), or one of the New York area airports (La Guardia and JFK, approximately 2 hours driving time). You can also fly into the Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and make a connection to New Haven via Amtrak.
Connecting Ground Transportation
Standard options for ground transportation between airports in Hartford or New York include:
From Hartford/Bradley International Airport: Taxi, Uber, or Lyft service is available and less expensive than private car services.
From JFK and LaGuardia Airports in New York: GO Airport Shuttle provides shared ride service between airports and New Haven hotels and/or the Yale campus. Red Dot Shuttle provides shared ride service to and from LaGuardia and JFK with departures from convenient locations in New Haven.
From EWR in Newark New Jersey: The Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) connects directly to an Amtrak Station. If you time your flights and train travel well, you can take Amtrak from EWR to New Haven Union Station at reasonable cost that is much less than car service.
NOTE: If your travel itinerary is not compatible with regular airport shuttle services or train schedules, you might consider car rental or a private car service. Suggested vendors for private car service are:
- Anton Limo, reservations at 203-916-4455.
- Hy’s Limousine, reservations at 203-934-6331 (local), or toll free at 800-255-LIMO (5466).
- Serlin Limo, reservations at 800-762-6927.
The price for one-way private car service is approximately $180 from Hartford/Bradley Airport (BDL), $250 from LaGuardia (LGA) or Kennedy (JFK), and $350-$400 from Newark (EWR).
Train Travel
Amtrak (1-800-USA-RAIL / 1-800-872-7245) is available along the northeast corridor from Boston, New York (Penn Station) or Washington, DC – and points in between – to Union Station in New Haven. Taxi service is always available outside the station and it’s about a 10 minute ride to the Yale campus or to the conference hotel.
Metro North Railroad (1-800-638-7646) provides more frequent commuter train service between Grand Central Terminal in New York City and Union Station in New Haven. Call or visit the Metro-North schedule website for times and fares.
By Car
If traveling by car, hotel parking will be covered by CSAP, and we recommend that you leave your car at the hotel rather than try to park on campus near ISPS. Valet parking is available when you pull up in front of The Study at Yale Hotel, 1157 Chapel Street in New Haven, CT.
Local Ground Transportation
If you are arriving locally into Tweed New Haven Airport or New Haven Union Train Station, you will find a queue of taxis outside to provide transportation to the conference hotel or to the Yale campus. For transportation between the hotel and Yale campus or back to Tweed Airport/Union Train Station, you have the following options:
- M7 Taxi (203-777-7777) Local taxi service; call at least 20 minutes before your pick-up time.
- Uber and/or LYFT are available and reliable if you have an account.
Walking between the hotel and conference site is also an option if the weather is nice. The Study at Yale Hotel is a 15 minute walk from ISPS, 77 Prospect Street (about 0.7 of a mile). Link here for walking directions.
