Amanda Weiss

Amanda Weiss studies American politics and quantitative methods, with a secondary concentration in political theory. At Yale, she is pursuing an MA in statistics en route to the PhD in political science. Her substantive research interests span partisanship, political behavior, violence, extremism, and the Internet. Methodologically, she is interested in computational techniques, econometrics, and possibilities for causal inference in real-world settings. Some of her current projects look at economic voting and at hate crimes.

Amanda has co-authored two chapters in the textbook Social Problems (2019) and an article on the public health challenge of hopelessness in older adults (2020). She holds an MS from Columbia School of Social Work, where she was editor-in-chief of the Columbia Social Work Review and a Fellow at SAFElab, and a BA from Columbia University, Columbia College.
