CSAP welcomes new Postdoctoral Associate Alessandro Del Ponte who will be working with Professors Gerber and Huber at the Institution for Social and Policy Studies for the 2021-2022 academic year.
Dr. Del Ponte comes to Yale from the National University of Singapore where he was a Research Fellow at the Global Asia Institute. His work lies at the intersection of behavioral political economy and political psychology, with a focus on cooperation, morality, and group identity. His research explores how citizens and governments respond to global crises, and has been published in journals such as the Journal of Politics, Political Psychology, Political Behavior, Cognition, and Scientific Reports among others.
Dr. Del Ponte received his Ph.D. in Political Science from Stony Brook University, where he managed the decision experiments lab at the Center for Behavioral Political Economy. He was previously the personal assistant of Italy’s former Prime Minister Mario Monti. He earned an MPA from SUNY Albany, an MSc in economics from Bocconi University, and a BSc in economics from the University of Genoa.
